What is the difference between facial verification and facial recognition?
Facial verification is a one-to-one match: the person's live image is compared against the photo on the ID they just presented. Facial recognition is a one-to-many search against a database of known faces. TrueCompare® does verification at the physical location.
How does facial verification work at a physical counter?
A webcam captures the person's face during the ID check. TrueCompare® runs a real-time comparison between that image and the photo on the authenticated ID. Staff get a pass or fail verdict on screen in seconds.
How does facial verification handle age, hairstyle, or other appearance changes?
TrueCompare® is designed to focus on stable facial characteristics rather than temporary changes such as hairstyle, facial hair, glasses, makeup, or normal aging. As a result, everyday appearance changes generally do not prevent successful verification.
Does TrueCompare® use liveness detection?
TrueCompare® runs at a physical counter, in view of front-line staff, against a live webcam feed. The person is physically present and observed; the threat model is different from remote onboarding, where liveness detection substitutes for a human operator.
Can facial verification catch someone using a stolen or borrowed ID?
Yes. That is the specific case it is built for. A real ID presented by the wrong person passes document authentication. TrueCompare® closes that gap by tying the verdict to the person, not the document.
Where is the captured facial image stored?
Inside the customer's environment, i.e., your firewall or private cloud instance. TrueCompare® does not require an external database or cloud lookup to run a comparison. Retention and audit logging are configurable to match your compliance policy.
Can TrueCompare® integrate with existing ID scanning and teller systems?
TrueCompare® is one module within the Evolution platform. It works alongside TrueAuthentication®, TrueVerify®, TrueListCheck®, and TrueListReview®, and integrates with major operator and financial systems already in use at the counter.
Do I need specialized hardware from Veridocs to implement facial verification?
No, you can use your existing webcams to capture images and integrate that with Veridoc’s platform to perform facial verification.
